Beyonce gets Top Album 2016 for Lemonade
The BBC have named Beyoncé’s album Lemonade as the critics choice of 2016 in their ‘poll of polls’. So, a big congratulations is in order. As one of my favourite all time artists, I’m super happy for her. See the top 20 results here.
Beyonce – Formation Tour 2016
For my daughter’s 7th birthday, we went to see Beyoncé in Cardiff. It was the 2016 Formation tour. She was just simply AMAZING! A slightly bizarre feeling for an avid Welsh rugby fan to be in the Principality Stadium without a rugby pitch. It was an incredibly exciting day for us both. Unfortunately I forgot to take any decent photos. This is literally the only one where you can tell it’s her and even then it’s only an image of her on the big screen!
Having been a fan since the early days of Destiny’s Child it was great to see the legend in person. She put on such a stunning show. Such high energy, with countless costume changes and a great mix of songs from throughout her career. And even given all her successes, she still managed to come across as humble and thankful.
A Tribute to Prince – Purple Rain
There was one cool bit of video I did manage to take during a costume change. Purple Rain was played in tribute to Prince. Most of the crowd put the flashlights on their phones. It was a brilliant and moving moment to be part of.
I’m still working at getting the vocals to most of Beyonce’s songs right. She sure has quite a range in her voice! However, earlier in the year I sang Runnin’ by Naughty Boy ft. Beyonce, so that will have to do for the time being.
